Mauna Kea
-The Mauna Kea Observatory is located on the peak of Mt. Mauna Kea in Hawaii
-This site supports the largest astronomical site in the world
-The largest telescopes are 33ft in diameter
-Each telescope consists of 36 segmented mirrors, each controlled by a computer
-the computer adjusts all the small mirrors many times per second so that a single image of the object being studied is seen clearly
-within the Mauna Kea Observatory there is the Subaru Telescope with a 327 inch one piece mirror and the similar Gemini Telescope
- with both one piece mirrors combined, they create an uninstructed view of the northern and southern sky
-it has an amazing view above the clouds and is open to visitors
-people wake up as early as 2:00am to depart to watch the sunrise on the top of the mountain
